Episode IV (A New Hope)
Nach einem Jahr Planung, Recherche und Umsetzung war es 2016 endlich fertig: Mein Luke Skywalker X-Wing-Piloten Stume :-D
Das Projekt startete 2015 zusammen mit meinem Freund Thomas Becker, welcher damals bereits ein selbstgemachtes Luke-X-Wing-Outfit besaß. Er wollte es aber noch etwas verbessern und da es zwischen
uns gut harmonierte, sind wir das Projekt gemeinsam angegangen.
Auch wenn es einfach aussieht, war es doch ziemlich schwierig, es genauso hinzubekommen, wie es auch im Film war.
Eine große Hilfe war die Star Wars Ausstellung in Köln 2015.
Dort wurde der originale Fliegeranzug von Luke ausgestellt.
Das war eine tolle Referenz für Stoffe und Details.
So wusste ich z.B. vorher nicht, dass die weißen Westen aus Nylon sind, oder die Stiefel eine Schnalle an der Seite haben und die Schaftkappe INNERHALB des Stiefelschafts vernäht ist.
Ich musste feststellen, dass es sehr viele ähnliche Stiefel gibt, aber exakt diese ausfindig zu machen hat mich Wochen der Suche gekostet :-)
After one year of planning, research and implementation, it was finally finished in 2016: My Luke Skywalker X-Wing pilot Stume :-D
The project started in 2015 together with my friend Thomas Becker, who already owned a selfmade Luke X-Wing outfit. He wanted to improve it a bit and since it harmonized well with us, we
approached the project together.
Although it looks easy, getting it exactly as it was in the movie was pretty hard.
A big help was the Star Wars exhibition in Cologne 2015.
There, Luke's original pilot-suit was exhibited.
That was a great reference for fabrics and details.
So for example, I didn't knew, that the white vests were made of nylon, or the boots have a buckle on the side and the buttock is sewn INSIDE the boot shaft.
I found out that there are a lot of similar boots, but finding them exactly took weeks of searching :-)
Screen used costume (Star Wars Identities Cologne 2015)
Der orangene Overall ist im Großen und Ganzen gekauft. Lediglich die Schritthöhe war zu tief und der Ausschnitt für das Compad war zu klein.
Der Rest ist Eigenbau.
An dieser Stelle möchte ich mich nochmal recht herzlich bei Hizsi für seine
gewohnt grandiose Arbeit an der Weste und den Änderungen am Overall bedanken.
Alles passt hervorragend! :-)

Gesucht, gefunden, gekauft und von Hizsi nach unseren Wünschen abgeändert

Stiefel
EXAKT die gleichen, wie Luke sie im Film trug.
Wochenlang ebay durchforstet und letztlich doch gefunden.
Patronen an Bein und Gürtel
Nach eigenem, leicht vom Original abweichenden Design aus Alu gedreht und mit blauen und roten Linien verfeinert.
Die Waden-Gurte hatte Thomas genäht.
Weste
Aus robustem Nylonstoff nach meiner Vorlage Hizsi genäht.
ComPad
Nach selbst erstelltem 3D-Modell gedruckt und abgeformt.
Gurte
Wie im Film aus zwei unterschiedlich hellen, silbernen Gurtbändern genäht.
Chestbox
Laminiert mit Epoxidharz und Glas-Gewebe.
Anschließend lackiert mit 2K-Acryllack
Schiebeschalter 3D-gedruckt und Aluteile gedreht.
Gurte aus olivgrüner Baumwolle mit korrektem Verschluss auf der Rückseite.
Helm
Entsteht grade aus GFK. Weil ein Helm aus Plastik einfach kein Helm ist :-)
Inzwischen waren Thomas und ich schon einige Male zusammen als Piloten auf Cons unterwegs und hatten immer viel Freude mit diesen bequemen, leichten Kostümen :-)

The orange jumpsuit is bought on the whole. Only the step height was too low and the clipping for the Compad was too small.
The rest is selfmade.
At this point I would like to thank Hizsi again for his usual great work on
the vest and the changes to the overall.
Everything fits perfectly! :-)

Jumpsuit
Searched, found, bought and changed from Hizsi to our wishes.
Boots
EXACTLY the same, Luke wore in the movie.
I searched ebay for weeks to find a pair.
Leg-Flares and belt
Made from aluminium on a CNC-machine from my own Design. I changed the original design a tiny bit. So i added some blue and red lines in some furrows.
The Leg-Flare-Belts were sewn by Thomas.
Vest
Made of durable Nylon from the references Thomas and I brought to Hizsi.
ComPad
I designed it on CAD, 3D-printed it and made a some resin-casts from it for Thomas and me.
Straps
Sewn from two different bright, silver Nylon-Straps.
Chestbox
I made them from fiberglass and painted them with two-component-car-paint.
The Switches were 3D-printed from my Design and the aluminum parts are CNC-machined from my design.
The straping are old military bands, which I'm sure were used in the movies.
Helmet
Work in progress. I make it from fiberglass because I don't want a thin plastic helmet. It has to feel like the real thing :-)
Meanwhile, Thomas and I have been pilots on cons several times together and have always had a lot of fun with these comfortable, light costumes :-)
