BACK TO THE FUTURE III -
Marty McFly (1885)
Diese Kostüme standen seit Jahren auf unserer ToDo Liste. Immerhin hatten Freunde auch bereits Seamus McFly und Clara Clayton umgesetzt, mit welchen wir sehr gerne mal stilechte Fotos machen müssen! :D
Angefangen hat es mit der Recherche von allen möglichen Fotos zu den Kostümen. Screenshots aus Zurück in die Zukunft III, Fotos von den original Kostümen und auch einige ZIDZ Bücher konnten uns Einblicke geben.
Mit Hilfe dieser Sammlung habe ich in stundenlanger Detailarbeit am Rechner eine Vorlage für Martys Poncho und auch eine für sein Halstuch entworfen.
Die Vorlage für den Poncho habe ich dann in 1:1 bei einem Druckdienst ausdrucken lassen. Das war eine sehr große Hilfe.
These costumes have been on our to-do list for years. After all, friends had already implemented Seamus McFly and Clara Clayton, with whom we would love to take stylish photos! :D
It started with researching many photos of the costumes. Screenshots from Back to the Future III, photos of the original costumes and some BTTF books gave us an insight.
With the help of this collection, I spent hours working on the computer to create a template for Marty's poncho and also one for his scarf.
I then had the template for the poncho printed out in 1:1 at a printing service. That was a huge help.
Der vermutlich beste Weg wäre es, den Poncho bei einer Weberei in Auftrag zu geben. Leider habe ich bisher keine finden können, die ein solches Einzelexemplar anfertigt. Aber vielleicht wird das ja noch.
Meine zweite Idee war es, alle Applikationen auf zu filzen. Jedoch gab es im örtlichen Geschäft keine Filzwolle in der entsprechenden Farbe. Und auch die aus dem Internet sah dann leider ganz anders aus als auf den Produktfotos.
Auch beim Ponchostoff musste ich zweimal kaufen, weil der erste viel zu dunkel für die Filzwolle war.
Letzten Endes musste ich mir eingestehen, dass das Auffilzen des kompletten Musters nicht gut umsetzbar ist. Alleine um die Flächen der Umrandung zu filzen, würde man vermutlich Monate benötigen.
Da ich nun zweimal den Ponchostoff hatte und der zweite einen sehr schönen Farbton besaß, kombinierte ich die beiden. So schnitt ich aus dem dunkleren alle Linien aus und befestigte sie auf dem helleren Stoff.
Bei den einzelnen Ornamenten griff ich jedoch auf die Idee des filzens zurück.
Auf dem Übersichtsfoto sieht man schön meinen ersten Ponchostoff, Martys Hemd, Hose und Schuhe. Den blauen Stoff für sein
Halstuch, welcher noch umgenäht werden musste und das Muster aufgemalt bekommen hat; sowie der Filzhut, welcher noch umgeformt werden musste. Auch der
Holster, den modellbaubert besorgte musste etwas angepasst werden. Lederarbeiten hat er von seinem Opa gelernt, sodass er das sehr schön hin bekommen hat. :)
Außerdem bekam der Holster noch passende Patronen und die Peacemaker Pistole.
Man sieht ebenfalls das "point of no return" Buch bevor es bemalt wurde, die Kordel für die Ponchofransen, Munition für den Holster, meine selbst erstellte 1:1 Vorlage aus Papier für den Poncho, rechts oben die Filzwolle für den Poncho und die Farben für die Superzündis.
In meiner Hand halte ich die "Frisbie's Pies" Platte, welche wir von Jeffrey Weissman ("George McFly" in Zurück in die Zukunft II und III) geschenkt bekommen haben.
Probably the best way would be to get the poncho from a weaving mill. Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to find any that makes such a single copy. But maybe it will still be.
My second idea was to felt all the applications on. However, there was no felt wool in the corresponding color in the local shop. And the one from the Internet also looked very different from the product photos.
I also had to buy twice for the poncho fabric because the first one was much too dark for the felt wool.
In the end, I had to admit to myself that felting on the entire pattern is not easy to implement. It would probably take months to felt the areas around the border alone.
Since I now had the poncho fabric twice and the second was a very nice shade, I combined the two. So I cut out all the lines from the darker fabric and attached them to the lighter fabric.
For the individual ornaments, however, I resorted to the idea of felting.
On the overview photo you can see my first poncho fabric, Marty's shirt, pants and shoes. The blue fabric for his scarf, which still had to be sewn and the pattern was painted on; as well as the felt hat, which still had to be reshaped. The holster that modellbaubert got also had to be adjusted a bit. He learned leatherwork from his grandfather, so he managed to do it very nicely. :)
The holster also got matching cartridges and the Peacemaker pistol.
You can also see the "point of no return" book before it was painted, the cord for the poncho fringes, ammunition for the holster, my self-made 1:1 paper template for the poncho, the felt wool for the poncho and the colors in the top right for the presto logs.

Los ging es mit dem Schneiden von ganz viel Stoff. Der Poncho erhielt seine endgültige Form und wir testeten, ob mein Kopf auch durch passt. :)
Die dunklen Linien wurden aufgetragen und alles erhielt seine typische Form.
Dann bekam er seine Fransen auf beiden Seiten.
Nun ging die Detailarbeit weiter mit den vielen teils bunten Applikationen.
Erst ausschneiden, dann filzen, dann kamen sie nach und nach auf den Poncho.
Es war sehr schön mit an zu sehen, wie er immer mehr zu Martys Poncho wurde. :)
It started with cutting a lot of fabric. The poncho got its final shape and we tested whether my head would fit through. :)
The dark lines were applied and everything got its typical shape. Then he got his fringes on both sides.
Now the detailed work continued with the many, sometimes colorful, applications. First cut out, then felted, then they gradually came onto the poncho.
It was very nice to see how he became more and more of Marty's poncho. :)
Da ich keinen Filzhut in der richtigen Form gefunden habe, musste ein ähnlicher verformt werden. Dafür habe ich Wasserdampf verwendet und ihn mit viel Kraft in die richtige Form gedrückt.
Die Klammern haben den neuen Rand fixiert bis er diesen angenommen hat.
Anschließend bekam er noch ein neues, passendes Hutband.
Und das Halstuch bekam sein Muster. Hier half uns unser Freund Noeck82 da es der Abend vor unserem Ausflug in die Westernstadt war und wir noch einiges an Zeit investieren mussten, um fertig zu
werden. modellbaubert nähte mein Halstuch und mit Hilfe meines Musters übertrug Noeck82 die vielen Punkte.
Er half mir auch bei den restlichen Applikationen (ebenfalls die vielen Punkte) für meinen Poncho. :)

Since I couldn't find a felt hat in the right shape, a similar one had to be deformed. I used steam for this and pressed it into the right shape with a lot of force.
The clamps have fixed the new edge until it has accepted it.
Then he got a new, matching hat band.
And the scarf got its pattern. Our friend Noeck82 helped us here because it was the evening before our trip to the western town and we still had to invest a lot of time to finish. Modellbaubert sewed my scarf and with the help of my pattern Noeck82 transferred the many dots. He also helped me with the remaining applications (also the many dots) for my poncho. :)

Bei den Schuhen, der Hose und dem Hemd hatte ich Glück, nach langer Suche passende gefunden zu haben, die nicht geändert werden mussten.

Woah, this is heavy duty! Your cosplay is amazing =D It's great to see your making of the poncho! I will study this in more detail when I continue the work on mine. I admire your attention to detail. You inspire me. I have attention to detail too, but you are really an inspiration.
